Tea Cosy @ Plaza Singapura

Was looking for a nice, cosy place to meet up some gal friends. Met the lady boss of Tea Cosy and decided to visit the place.

Located at Plaza Singapura #05-10, the shop front looks like a gift shop.

At the side of the entrance, the wooden sign tells you more. Daphne, the boss, told us that everything, or anything with a price tag attached to it is for sale! It could be the chair you are sitting on, the table cloth, the display shelf, the mirror on the wall etc!

The most distinctive stuff in the shop has to be the angels for sale. You can find ALL SORTS of angels, for all sorts of occasion. You just have to approach the staff, tell them the occasion for the gift and they will recommend you which to get. We bought "studious" angels for our CG SOT Graduates :) But my favourite were those leaning against the table with their butts showing :p

Daphne (the lady seated lower left), told us that the concept is to house three brands in one location, Tea Cosy, Ten Thousand Angels and A Thousand Tales (the brands that sells the furnishings).

It's a perfect place for casual dining, tea-time with friends, nice chat with pals... Imagine thousands of angels watching over you :)

Baked Mushroom - oven-baked mushrooms topped with cheese!

Tea Cosy Decadent Salad - Foie gras chunks with grilled prawns, whole egg, fresh green and in-house special dressing!

Banger's & Mash - German Frankfurters served with mash potatoes and coleslaw

Tea Cosy Laksa Pasta - Choice of linguini or penne. If you are a Laksa fan, this is a must-try!

Miso Dory - Delicious dory pan-fried in miso gravy.

We were getting ready for our dessert!

Ebony & Ivory - Fudge brownie with vanilla ice-cream.

English Scones - I am not a scones person, but I ate an entire scone! It was soft and fluffy; not those that get stuck in between your teeth :p

Tea Cosy Hot Chocolate - The only reason I ordered this was because it was SO PRETTY! The beverage comes with 4 floating floral marshmallows. I know my kids will love this!

Minty Chocolate Coffee - this is highly recommended by Daphne.

The place also cater to private functions. Daphne told us that they held birthday parties and even ROM Solemnization Ceremony in the cafe before. If you are looking for a serene and cosy place to rest in the midst of a busy shopping mall like Plaza Singapura, do visit Tea Cosy.

K ki - Fine Pastries

Recently visited a couple friend's cafe at Ann Siang Hill - K Ki. One side of the cafe sells pastry and the other side is The Little Drom Store that sells whimsical, vintage little knick knacks.

The uniqueness of this cafe lies in the fact that the pastry chef is self-taught! Husband Kenneth has never attended any formal training but his baking skills is simply heavenly! It might be a little pricey but the details they put into the presentation and packaging is worth the every cent you pay for the cakes :)

The cakes look "too pretty" to be eaten. I bought the Kinabaru - coconut mousse, passionfruit creme and lychee mousse, Cafe Dumo - the one shaped like a dome, flourless chocolate cake, cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake.

If you are looking for a quiet place with good pastries and a nice cup of coffee, do visit K Ki and be wowed by the food and warm service! Have a nice chat with Wife Delphine, she will take time to explain every creation to you!

Singapore Food Festival 2010

Debbie @ Clarke Quay

Brought the children to the Singapore Food Festival. The theme was Discover the treasures of Singapore Chinese Dialect food. There were many other activities like enjoying mouth-watering bites served in a tingkat (food carrier) from different Singapore Chinese dialects on a boat while you take a relaxing cruise along the Singapore River.

We walked down the Food Street and couldn't resist munching on kueh tu-tu, local and peranakan kueh and kong ba bao from Westlake... Yum Yum!

Promised Denise that we will go back again for River Cruise. Maybe National Day, my birthday, or September school holiday...:)

Trip to KL - Food Edition

Malaysia is the real Food Paradise!!! You can easily find nice and cheap food here... Even a simple roadside coffeeshop sells fantastic dishes!

Here, we were having dinner at a small roadside Chinese restaurant with my family. The food here is awesome!!! We ordered their specialties... Nonya steam fish, Fried Bitter Gourd, Golden Tofu, Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs... Yummy! 6 dishes for 7 adults and 4 children only costs us RM$135...

After dinner, we had "Mao Shan Wang". A treat from my bro-in-law... RM$28 per kg and 4 durians cost him RM$364!!! Every ex, by any standard... But I must say, the durians tasted superb :)

At the Choongs, Fong Loo welcomed us with Patchi. They are like Godiva, Chocz kind of "chocolate"... Between FL and I, we called them "chocolate fits for royalty" because these are the chocolate that the Choongs will buy for the King and Queen...:)

Of course, for those of you that follow my tweets, we had 2nd round of durians with the Choongs. This time the durians were cheaper BUT they were equally good; those bittersweet kind that I love!!!

Before we left on Friday morning, they brought us to a coffeeshop for Dim Sum. My all-time favourite item is "wu-kok" (deep fried yam). I am NOT exaggerating but this place serves one of the BEST "wu-kok" I have ever tasted! The crust melts in your mouth and the yam is so soft that it does not get stuck in your teeth! I could not resist "tar-pau-ing" 2 boxes to Singapore! I probably ate 3 there...:)

We ate so much good food on this trip... Dragon-i; Chinese La-mian restaurant, Nasi Bryani at Bangsar, homecooked Nasi Lemak by the Choong's 3rd Aunty, Kajang satay and roti prata etc... FOOD! Enough for me to want to go back again and again!!

CUPCAKES!

Denise received a Cupcake Making machine from Aunty Val last Christmas. It's almost a year (almost...) and she has not made ONE for Aunty Val. I decided to use up all the ingredient to make some last Saturday. Only managed to make 4; 1 each for Denise and Debbie, the other 2 for Aunty Val and Aunty Yan.

Denise - making the mixture

Debbie - preparing the cupcake holder

Denise - pouring the mixture into the cupcake holder

Debbie - placed the container inside the microwave for 1 min

Denise - VOILA! Add the icing and it's done!

Sorry, forgot to take pictures of the finished product. 1 thing I know, they were edible.. haha...:)

Breakfast @ Riders Cafe

Denise's KL buddies came and visit us. We met for breakfast at Riders Cafe. It is located at 51 Fairways Drive, Bukit Timah Saddle Club. Quite "out of the city" feel; nice place...:) Once in a while, you can see horses trotting by. A bit pricey but worth the visit...:)

The kids waiting for their food to be served.

JX's - Riders Breakfast Set.

Mine - Egg Florinetine (Very fresh!)

Dinner @ Waraku

Read from Edmund's blog that Waraku @ Cuppage is having a 50% promotion from 18-21 Jun...:) It is our favourite Japanese restaurant, so we decided to go there for dinner tonight!

The place was crowded but we managed to get a table within 10mins! The staff were very friendly; Denise and Debbie were given a toy each...:) To take advantage of the offer, we ordered all our favourite dishes!

Yummy!!! For the amount of food we ate, we only paid $54! Then I realised that we ordered 2 plates of "bacon quail egg" but only 1 of it was given a 50% discount. I highlighted to the waitress. Not only did she minus off the 50%, she even gave me a full refund of the dish as an act of goodwill. In other words, I actually had 2 plates of "bacon quail egg" for free! Final bill - $46!!!

Haha...definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant...:)

Dinner @ Turf City

Ever since we shifted to Dover, we have become more "adventurous" in our choice of dining venue. Decided to go to Turf City on Monday. Dined at Chong Pang BBQ & Steamboat Buffet...:p

The spread was yummy! But we smelled so "BBQ-ed" after dinner... The best part was that we could still do our grocery shopping at Giant after dinner...:) A little exercise to burn off the food... haha...:)

Ladies Day Out WithOUT The Kids

Met the mummies in the morning for Dim Sum at Mouth Kitchen on Sunday morning!

Left our kids behind and decided to "pamper" ourselves with shopping and coffee after that. After coffee, more shopping at Robinson... But of course, we were still shopping for the kids. Haha... Even though we didn't bring them out, we joked that we brought them out in our hearts! :p

What a day! Certainly doing this again...:)

Wedding @ Au Jardin

Attended an outdoor wedding at Au Jardin last Friday. It was a small but super-heartwarming and cosy affair...:) We were invited for a lunch reception after that. What an experience! We even had to ask the waiter how to consume the appetizer...:p

Nice table setting

Smoked beef tendon, grilled white asparagus, comte

Fungi juice (which is actually, mushroom soup), truffle, parma ham, hazelnut emulsion

Roasted spring lamb leg with lamb ragout (the best I've tasted so far!)

Some sweet dessert; the dark chocolate was simply yummy!

Carrot sorbet, carrot cake crumple, clementine granite
