Art Sense

Denise and Debbie were invited to Art Sense Open House last Sunday. The different between Art Sense and other centres is that the environment is at the heart of everything they do. They believe in teaching their students the value of recycling and re-using common household items by turning them into art pieces.

The kids had fun using recycled material and using their creativity to make them into 3D crafts.

Check Art Sense bithrday packages if you are looking for an unique place to celebrate your young ones' birthday.

Paint A Smurf @ Northpoint

Denise and Debbie attended a Smurf event by Fraser Centrepoint Malls.

Every kid was given a plastic Smurf, a box of acrylic paint and a paint brush.

The kid had 30mins to paint their own Smurf.

The kids had a lot fun painting, with the adult's help :)

These were Denise and Debbie's completed product ;)

Every family went home with a goodie bag, containing a Smurf magnetic game board, 8 Smurf character magnets and a box of Oreo :)

Thanks, San, once again for the invitation to the event!

If you want to catch the Smurf, do check out the Smurf on Tour schedule at Fraser Centrepoint Malls website.

National Day Performance

The School was a sea of red when we arrived in the morning. Debbie was super sticky to me and I was worried that she was not going to perform. But when it was her class' turn to go on stage, she was all ready!

Some people say that she looks like her teacher Ms Mayce :)

Debbie's all-time favourite activity is face-painting. As usual, Ms Serene makes sure she leaves a "print" on her face :)

After the carnival, we were invited to their class to view their Art and Craft.

The teachers also led us in some games. It was a time of curriculum introduction. We enjoyed ourselves and thanks to all the teachers for making this celebration a fun one!

CUPCAKES!

Denise received a Cupcake Making machine from Aunty Val last Christmas. It's almost a year (almost...) and she has not made ONE for Aunty Val. I decided to use up all the ingredient to make some last Saturday. Only managed to make 4; 1 each for Denise and Debbie, the other 2 for Aunty Val and Aunty Yan.

Denise - making the mixture

Debbie - preparing the cupcake holder

Denise - pouring the mixture into the cupcake holder

Debbie - placed the container inside the microwave for 1 min

Denise - VOILA! Add the icing and it's done!

Sorry, forgot to take pictures of the finished product. 1 thing I know, they were edible.. haha...:)

Denise's Artwork

I believe all proud parents', especially mothers, are like me... Ever since Denise started going to school at 3, I keep all her artwork. However, due to the recent shift, I was contemplating if I should throw away any...
Iris gave me a brilliant idea. Take a picture of all the artwork and only keep those "memorable" ones. Well, I gave Denise a mission... She took the pictures and then we agreed to discard them...:) More than 100 of them!!!

Photofrenz

Found this local website http://www.photofrenz.com/ which does photo-print on edible chocolate...:) For parents who are looking for innovative ways to do birthday goody-bag gifts or invitations, you can consider this.

I tried ordering for my kids. The pictures have to be of a higher resoluton to turn out sharp. However, this is not like those photo-icing layers you have on cakes...so the picture quality is a little compromised. As long as your picture is not too small, the end product is still satisfactory...:)

Note of cautious... if you order directly from the supplier, it is MUCH MORE expensive... I recommend PHOTOFRENZ and they do, from time to time, have some good online promotions.

Happy Printing!

K1 Scrapbook

This is Denise's K1 scrapbook from school. It is a simple summary of what she did in school this year. Next year will be her last year in Pat's Schoolhouse. English teacher, Ms Wendy, will be teaching them again. Apparently, she is both the students and parents' favourite teacher...:)

First "Day" in School

Debbie attended her first class in CHEC. It was a mock up class and children of the staff are invited to attend for FREE! These are her "first classmates".

The first theme is PAPER... The children are free to roam in the room, filled with everything made of paper!

Debbie was putting everything into her mouth!

Even the parents took part in the fun...:)

I am looking forward to the next 4 weeks of Baby Read, Sign and Sing!

Pizza-Making

Denise loves to help me cook!

I have always wanted to make my own pizza at home, and decided to buy the ingredient for some pizza-making on Friday!
Of course Denise was very excited. She helped me cut the ham, crabsticks, button mushrooms etc. Spread the ingredient and throw it into our toaster...

Viola! Our own Hawaiian Pizza! Yummy!!

Vivo City

Brought Denise and Debbie to VivoCity some time back. Denise had a good time playing with water at the rooftop. And Debbie?

Sleeping comfortably in the sling...:)

We met Christy and family at Vivo. Kenneth, Christy's son aka Denise "big" friend in the CG, was doing some art & craft in a shop. And Denise wanted to join in.
We waited for her to finish her artwork before having dinner at Hog's breath.

Where is Debbie?
Sleeping soundly in her child seat...:)

Happy Mother's Day (13 May 2007)

This Sunday is Mother's Day. When I dropped Denise off at school this morning, her teacher told her to choose a fruit from a basket for me. Between apples and bananas, she gave me a banana as her first "official and personal" Mother's Day gift for me...:) But when she reached her classroom, she said, "Mummy, I want to eat the banana..." Of course, I gladly gave it to her, knowing that it's her favourite...haha...

And this evening when I fetched her from school, she came running with an art & craft in her hand. She shouted, "Happy Mother's Day! I love you Mummy! Love from Denise..."

It was a beautiful little frame she did in school today. Nothing worth more than the gift your little ones made themselves....(all mothers understand that...) My husband asks me what do I want for Mother's Day.... Well, I already have what I wanted...*wink*

Potato-Man

Part of Denise's school curriculum is Art & Craft. She has been bringing back many interesting works that she did in school. We bought Ikea boxes to keep them in her room. This Potato-Man is one of the more interesting ones but doubt if I can keep it for long since it's made from REAL potato... Better snap a picture before it starts to rot!

Denise FIRST Arise & Build

Last Christmas, Francis and Cheng gave Denise a Piggy Bank. It is one of those clay piggy bank where you can design and paint it yourself. At that time, Denise was too young to paint on her own and I kept it in the storeroom instead.

During service last week, I was thinking of ways to get her involved in our coming Arise & Build and I was reminded of this piggy bank. Finally, it has come to great use! We will use it to save for Denise's FIRST CHC Arise & Build!!!

You can imagine her excitement when I took out the box. Without hesitation, she decided on a BLUE Piggy Bank. With my help, she added flowers, sun and other designs on it! We kept telling her that she must put money in to build God a GREAT House!

Her first contribution? $0.90 from JX...:)
